This page comes out entirely wrong. A comment regarding the S AT story code prefix is interpreted a creator, title and character data.
― spe Monday, July 15, 2013 at 8:41:31 PM
DIZNI apparently no longer supports h3 lines in DBS files, so h3 lines are treated as "stories". h3 lines also exist in e.dbs, f.dbs, movies.dbs, s.dbs and xx.dbs and something needs to be done with them there.

I changed the h3 lines in s2.dbs into h2 lines. I hope that doesn't cause any problems for anyone.
― Cacou Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 1:18:38 PM
Only left h3 headers are in movies.dbs. Apparently though these headers do not show up as normal entries.
― HF status changed to solved Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 8:00:42 PM
Yes, spe and Cacou are right.

Apparently, I disallowed h3 headers in DBS files on 2013-01-20 (according to Dizni's source code). Except for movies.

The translator was listed in the book as "Leyla Dimitrova, master of the sport", so the comma got misinterpreted. It should be changed (in Bulgarian) to "Лейла Димитрова - майстор на спорта". Sorry about my silly error!
― deyanmegara Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 10:48:05 PM
Now that I think of it, it should be "Лейла Димитрова (майстор на спорта)", to show the difference between this "title" of hers from her actual name.
― spe Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 9:28:34 PM
Are Лейла Димитрова-Тодорова and Лейла Димитрова the same person? See for example this line:

MM2007-50f 2 g Помисли и отгатни: Кошмарният Див запад [trans:Силвия Борисова, Лейла Димитрова-Тодорова]

Solved the comment part by adding the comment to a list of people instead.
― deyanmegara Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 9:39:51 PM
It is "Лиляна", not "Лейла", because I mistyped her name (probably thinking about the other one when writing the name). They're two different persons, with different names. Leyla Dimitrova is apparently a professional chess player, while Lilyana Dimitrova-Todorova is a translator. The latter is listed on a lot of magazines as a translator of non-comic stuff.

Strange, this seems to happen only in Opera 9.50 and Konqueror 3.5.9, Firefox 3.0 RC1 shows everything. Opera and Konqueror also don't show the publications of stories by country, only all publications together.
― HF Friday, May 30, 2008 at 11:04:51 AM

deyanmegara: can you give the URL of a page that shows wrong results?

Every story page dosplays the problem.
― deyanmegara Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 7:11:39 PM
It looks as Opera doesn't get the text at all. The HTML code doesn't contain the missing parts.
― spe Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 6:37:59 AM
I see descs everywhere (using SeaMonkey 1.1.9, Opera 8.0 and Konqueror 3.1-15).
― deyanmegara Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 12:07:27 PM
Here's what I see:

(Example is for page http://coa.inducks.or...?c=D+95207 )

http://megaraweb.hit....pshot1.png (Opera 9.50)
http://megaraweb.hit....pshot3.png (Konqueror 3.5.9)
http://megaraweb.hit....pshot2.png (Firefox 3.0 RC1)
http://megaraweb.hit....pshot5.png (Opera 9.27 on Windows)
http://megaraweb.hit....pshot6.png (SeaMonkey 1.1.8 on Windows)
http://megaraweb.hit....pshot7.png (Firefox 2.0.0.14 on Windows)
http://megaraweb.hit....lBwYa.html (The page code I get when viewing with Konqueror)

So yes, SeaMonkey shows it. Firefox 2 also shows the bad version, though the Gecko engine is of the same major version as SeaMonkey. I don't have Opera 8 right now.
― deyanmegara Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 8:00:15 AM
New discovery: it only happens if I set the first browser language to Bulgarian. Setting it to English fixes the problem. SeaMonkey and Firefox 3 had the language set to English, so that was why they showed the page correctly. Check your scripts.
― Cacou Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 8:14:37 AM
Thank you for the screen shots and data.

I have some trouble installing any of the browsers in question. (If by any chance, you know a bit of HTML and could edit the code to check what creates the problem, that would be great. Otherwise we'll find another way to solve this).

Thanks again.
― deyanmegara Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 5:07:02 PM
What I found today means that the problem has to do with the HTTP header "Accept-Language". When I set the preferred website language to Bulgarian (e.g., "Accept-Language: bg,en-us;q=0.7,en;q=0.3"), COA fails to reply with the normal page and sends me the one in the screenshots. When I set it English (US) (e.g., "Accept-Language: en-us,en;q=0.7,bg;q=0.3"), it shows up normally. So, the HTML appears to be good, but the COA script is not returning me the right page when the first language in the list is Bulgarian. It appears that any language COA is not translated into will make trouble. You should make your script return the English version by default. The problem occurs with "story.php". The language can be set in the browser's preferences (in Firefox it's Edit->Preferences->Content->Languages or Tools->Options->Content->Languages).
― spe Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 5:25:01 PM
Here's how to reproduce the error:

Open the menu where you select the default language for web pages. In SeaMonkey: Edit: Preferences...: Navigator: Languages.
This is what I see: http://inducks.org/pr...menu-1.png

At the top, I have Swedish. That's no problem: there's a Swedish translation of COA.

Further down in the list, I have Japanese. Note that there currently isn't any Japanese translation of COA. Select Japanese and move it to the top. It will now look like this: http://inducks.org/pr...menu-2.png

Now delete any COA cookies, since they may contain previous language information.

Go to a COA page such as http://coa.inducks.or...?c=D+95207 and you'll notice that the desc is gone!

Change the browser language setting to what it used to be, and the desc will re-appear.

---

Possible cause of the error:
* Going to http://coa.inducks.or...?c=D+95207 with no COA cookie and with the browser language setting set to Swedish, COA sets the "coa-preferred-language" cookie to "8" (= Swedish).
* Going to the same page with no COA cookie and with the browser language setting set to Japanese, COA doesn't create any "coa-preferred-language" cookie at all.

Maybe the non-existance of that COA cookie causes the non-display of the descs? Maybe COA should force an English cookie, if it doesn't recognise the default browser language?
