Please be a little more specific. What is "Crocodile Hunter Show"?
― spe Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 5:28:17 PM
http://en.wikipedia.o...ile_Hunter lists a few things which sound like films or TV series. Probably one of those (although it's not clear which one)...
― orn Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 7:46:17 PM
Based on the app of the character and his hat in the splash panel, probably it's the movie "Crocodile Dundee" (1986).
― sko Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 8:12:53 AM
Perhaps, Ole, but if you google "Crocodile Hunter Show" and search
for pictures, you'll find one Steve Irwin all over the place. Now, it
would be nice to know exactly *where* those refs are and I doubt that
Mr. Irwin really rode a crocodile (but I am sure Dundee did if you ask
him ;-)

― orn Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 1:04:04 PM
The ristampa comment is obsolete and kept mostly for nostalgic reasons.
Instead INDUCKS/COA uses equivalents, across other countries, as you see for many other Classici. Oddly enough CWD 61 doesn't link back to the original CWD 30 or (any other reprint), and CWD 30 links to ... CWD 30. Clicking the link produces a CWD 30 page with no links to itself, but a different cover scan! I don't know what to make of or do about this.

Sono spiacente! But you don't need to tell me, just upload the better scan (if you are sure it is better!)
On the story page click 'add scan' and overwrite the one there.
Please don't upload tiny thumbnails, but preferably full 300 dpi images - about 2000 pixels tall for pockets. You can't see the big pictures, but indexers can and use it for detailed analysis. :-)
Thank you, and sorry again for the slowness, but this indexing machine runs on molasses for bio fuel. :-)
― sury Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 2:50:11 PM
:) No problem about the slowness, the important thing is the answer in any moment it arrives!
Well, i'd like to add the cover, but if you don't remove the old one, i can't add the new, see what the INDUCKS says:

"Non puoi caricare un'immagine di questo elemento perché una è già stata caricata da EEGA. Se pensi che l'immagine sia errata, fai una richiesta di cancellazione."
(Translation: "You can't add an image of this element because there is already an image add by EEGA. If you think that the scan is wrong, you have to do a deletion request".

So, how i can do? :)
― sury Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 6:12:19 PM

Try again tomorrow, and if it still fails, please contact FWi for the technicalities. I don't know how to remove a scan either, only how to replace one... :-/
― sury Monday, December 12, 2011 at 7:02:18 PM
But maybe only INDUCKERS can do some action without permission or intervention, i think... so, you're a member of INDCUKS and so you "don't get any comments about EEGA or anything, when you replace it".
― Cacou Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 9:45:28 PM
People who are not Inducks members can not replace covers, only upload new ones. Otherwise anyone could remove all scans in a few hours with a bot...
There could be a system for uploading without replacing, and letting an Inducks member approve it, but I never got to do it.

It's not handy either, for us Inducksers, to remove scans and waiting for people to upload something and see if it's OK.

Maybe the easiest solution would be that Sury uploads a scan somewhere (there are many sites for uploading images like Flickr) and just send us a link. Inducksers can send the link directly to COA without even downloading and uploading.

The American printing here has the correct comment [one scene removed]. But I believe this is true of all 37-page Italian printings of the story, all of which derive from the same remount, don't they? This Italian version is the direct source of the American version.
So the note about the removed scene should be added to other 37-page Italian reprints, too.
Q: Was the Italian version taken from the 1982 Greek 37-page version? Or is there an earlier Italian 37-page version we haven't indexed? (I see there's a 36-page version...)
― orn Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 8:30:12 PM
The Greek 1982 edition has the copyrigh year 1971, as does Cartonati Disney 2 - http://coa.inducks.or...CGC+++2#c. It appears to be a reprint thereof - even the cover matches.
The 36 page count is probably an error.

I indexed an incomplete copy of this issue years ago without knowing it; it actually has more pages at the start that I didn't know about. Now I've got a more complete copy, and I've learned that the start of our index should really look like this...

MMA 3 h3 [issdate:1932] [inx:DGe]
MMA 3aa UC MMA 3 1 c WHa MM Back Again! [desc:posing as Cupid with bow] [xapp:MM]
MMA 3ab U MMA 3B01 1 i -> -- [art:WHa,Les Clark)] [desc:MM and MI standing to introduce the book] [xapp:MM,MI]
MMA 3ac U MMA 3B02 1 i WHa MM Out Again! [desc:MM is bowled out at cricket] [xref:UC MMA 4 (same gag, different drawing)]
MMA 3ad U MMA 3B03 6 2 WHa MM A Black Outlook [xapp:MM,MI] [desc:fishing on island trip, MI is captured by cannibals and MM saves her]
MMA 3ae U MMA 3B04 1 3 WHa MM Give and Take [xapp:MM,MI] [desc:MM bumps his head on low doorframe]
MMA 3af U MMA 3B05 1 3 WHa MM Buzz Off! [xapp:MM,MI] [desc:in swatting bee, MM knocks MI's treacle jar out of window where it hits policeman]
MMA 3ag U MMA 3B06 1 3 WHa MM A Bright Outlook [desc:landlady charges to look out window] [xapp:MM]

...where U MMA 3B01-3B05 are now all items that we didn't include earlier.

With "A Bright Outlook" we go back into the contents that were indexed already, so the rest of the index largely stays as-is... but the coding will have to change, so the former MMA 3ab/U MMA 3B01 has become MMA 3ag/U MMA 3B06, and all subsequent codes should jump ahead five letters/digits as well.

This recoding may cause a problem in that one of the stories in this book ("It's a Gift!") was reprinted by Egmont in several countries, not so long ago, with our existing code used as the printed code:
http://coa.inducks.or...dk%2fWD++1 (here shown as "U MMA 3-B49").
We'll need to update the indexes of the various editions on that book, so that they remain in sync with the "It's a Gift" story, which will now become U MMA 3-B54.
― iwerksfan Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 10:06:03 PM
Oops! One of those lines should really be more complete:

MMA 3ab U MMA 3B01 1 i -> MM Mickey Mouse Annual [art:WHa,Les Clark)] [desc:MM and MI standing to introduce the book] [xapp:MM,MI]

as this is the title page, with the name of the book being the name of the illustration as well.
― Cacou Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 10:32:27 PM
It's probably easier to use the codes U MMA 3B00A, 3B00B etc. (and not change the subsequent codes).
― iwerksfan Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 10:49:20 PM
Or maybe 3B74 through 3B79, following on the items we already coded?
I'll leave the decision up to whoever fixes the index. At least you now know the stories that should be added.
― orn Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 11:04:35 PM
Peculiar that you would post this message today. I have just been going over xeroxes of that book you gave me a decade ago wondering why these pages weren't indexed. I ascribed it to being a Canadian edition of the book and thus possibly different.
(I also missed an opportunity to purchase MMA 1 for £20 on eBay, but maybe you were the lucky winner? ;-)

-- Ole
― iwerksfan Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 11:10:34 PM
MMA 1 for twenty quid? I wish I HAD won it!
I already have several incomplete copies, all of them falling apart, which together comprise the entire book (-: so I don't really *need* another. But still...

The Canadian MMA 2, which I copied for you, turns out to consist of British MMA 3 complete; Brit MMA 1 nearly complete but minus the title pages; and four pages from Brit MMA 2.

There is also a Canadian MMA 1, taken (at least mostly?) from Brit MMA 2 and 4, but I don't own it, I just saw it on sale once. I'd love to know how the Canadians figured out what they were going to publish, and in what order!
― iwerksfan Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 11:14:25 PM
Oops! I should add...

The Canadian MMA *looks* at first glance to be about the same size as the British; but the British used thick, cardstock paper for the interior pages, whereas the Canucks used thin, standard paper. This meant that the Canadian MMA could hold *twice* as many pages as the British ones. Talk about looks being deceiving.
― Cacou Friday, August 21, 2009 at 9:23:38 AM
New items added (I used the 00A, 00B solution, which I think is the easiest, and the one we use in the W-index).
Setting to solved - sorry for interrupting the interesting discussion on Canadian books...

The generic term "music group" is probably better for searches and possibly more understandable in 50 years time when the expression "boy band" has gone out of fashion.

Does "late 1990s boy band" btw mean that they are all dead now, or that they florished between 1995 and 2000?

On http://coa.inducks.or...p?c=Zantaf Bottaros Zantaf is called Herr Graf in German. I don't think, that information is correct. There have been published only two stories with him in Germany so far:

Der doppelte Pirat (Paperino e il ritorno del dottor Zantaf) in Lustiges Taschenbuch 27. Here he is called "Professor Piepenbrinck".
Eine einträgliche Entführung (He Who Steals My Plane, Steals... Uh...) in Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck 221. Here he is called "Graf Zahltag".

I hope, you can change that information.
― orn Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at 10:07:07 AM

"Herr Graf" simply means "Mr. count".
― Flintheart Glomgold Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at 10:29:24 AM
I think, "Herr Graf" doesn't come from a re-translation of said LTB. In Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck 221 Uncle Scrooge politely calls him "Herr Graf" once. But his full name is "Graf Zahltag", as it is clearly stated by Donald on page 16. And in the end, Scrooge convinces Graf Zahltag in opening and managing an Hotel, "Hotel Zahltag".

We need to re-check the page counts of these two Danish reprints of this story, since they are reported to differ, while the JT 3 index says it is exactly the same as in JB 127:

JB 127ca I TL 1844-BP 70 3 -> SAs MM Faraonens garage [writ:MMr,GPz]

JT 3p299 I TL 1844-BP 71 3 MM Faraonens garage [re:JB 127] [/pcode:I-1844]
― orn Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 9:59:19 AM
The splash page of part 3 is missing from JB 127 but appears on page 345 of JT 3. Bot this and the first splash page appears to have had art added at the top of the page, where the resume would have been.

The comment in JT 3 just says it was "earlier published in JB 127" - no guarantee for exactness (unless it is implied from my use of the re: field). In fact the dialogue seems to have been retyped (not retranslated) causing lots of small differences. Especially the time setting comment on the first page is puzzling: does the story take place in 1300 or 3300 BC??
Btw, how about indexing the nice drawing machine illustration on the title page of JT 3? Just that once even if it appears several times in the book as page filler.

Added [changes:splash page(pg. 47 of story) removed] to index of JB 127. What do you think; does that solve the problem?
― mje Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 9:10:04 AM
don't have any of the reprints!

There *may* be some problems with issue numbering of the "Tankestreger" series. To confirm that the current numbering is correct, it would be great if someone is able to upload (preferably large) scans of the covers of all issues -- or at least, mainly the first couple of years or so.
― mje Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 2:22:18 PM
Adding SKO as a maintainer since he has both the issues and a scanner according to my knowledge.
― tpl Monday, April 16, 2007 at 6:37:51 PM
I already asked SKO about the early TS issues, though, and it didn't seem like he has them.

Recheck number of pages please. I have this story copied from MM 200. Pages are 1-4,6-11,13,15,18-20,22-27,30 that gives a sum of 22 pages.
― EBi Friday, March 23, 2007 at 7:56:24 PM
The first print (OS 371) has got 24 pages, yes. I am adding the indexers of MM 200 as maintainers. Can one of you check the page count of the story in this print?
― orn Friday, March 30, 2007 at 3:49:21 PM
The reprint does have all 24 pages. page 14 and 31 are missing from the list below.

MM1993-07d I TL 1808-B 26 3 DD Tryllekunster [printed title is "I dobbelt ild"]

If the printed title is "I dobbelt ild", why is the title field filled in with a different title?
― tpl Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 9:02:34 PM
I don't know. Perhaps one of the other Danish indexers would be so kind as to check what the real printed title is, and where the other one comes from? Thanks :-)

― LPJ Monday, February 5, 2007 at 12:23:41 AM
According to the page you linked to, two stories have been treated this way in this issue:
I TL 1928-C has been given the Inducks title "I dobbelt ild", while the printed title was "Tryllekunster".
Meanwhile, I TL 1808-B has been given the Inducks title "Tryllekunster", while the printed title was "I dobbelt ild".

Why? My guess is that it is because the Induckser realized the titles accidentally had been switched around by Egmont, and he then took it upon himself to switch them back. The Induckser in question is ORN, so he should be able to tell you whether this theory is correct.
― LPJ Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 4:24:58 PM
I've now talked to ORN, and he confirmed that my guess was correct.

Should we mark this as "solved"?
― spe Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 4:32:37 PM
Shouldn't we list the printed title in the title field, regardless of whether that was the title that the publisher intended to use there?
― LPJ Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 5:14:07 PM
SPe, I really have no firm opinion on that matter: on one hand you're right, on the other hand Egmont obviously made a mistake. If Egmont due to a mistake only printed 20 pages of a 52 page story, it wouldn't mean that the story itself actually *was* 20 pages -- only that Egmont had made a mistake.

I suggest you bring this up with HF and Cacou. Meanwhile, since I have nothing more to contribute in this thread I'm going to drop out as maintainer.
― orn Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 10:04:01 AM
spe, if you compare the switched Danish titles to the original Italian, I hope we can agree what the story titles really are (regardless of how they got typographically mixed up)
― spe Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 10:45:01 AM
Yes, and so what? In the Inducks [title] field we list the title exactly as printed, regardless of whether the printed title contains a typo or not, so shouldn't we in a case like this still list the *printed* title in the title field (even if someone might have intended to use some of the titles for different stories)?
― tpl Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 7:49:12 PM
I vote for listing the titles as they appear here, with a comment (viewable to COA users) about the mix-up. I think this is somewhat similar to stories with hero XX where XX doesn't appear in the story at all (we still list these as [hero:XX].
― spe Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 3:55:11 AM
> I vote for listing the titles as they appear here

"Here" = as in the Danish issue, or as in the current revision of dk.dbi?

> we still list these as [hero:XX]

As [hero:XX!] actually.
― tpl Friday, March 2, 2007 at 7:53:49 PM
>"Here" = as in the Danish issue, or as in the current revision of dk.dbi?

Here as in the Danish issue. Field for printed title is for printed title. A comment should explain the error in the print.

>As [hero:XX!] actually.

Yes, but that doesn't change anything in the argument.
― spe Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 5:31:48 AM
> Yes, but that doesn't change anything in the argument.

Nope.

In my opinion, the [title] field should contain the title exactly as printed in the issue, regardless of whether the publisher made a mistake when writing something there. This also seems to be your (TPL's) opinion.
― orn Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 10:17:41 AM
This thread is too interesting to allow to die. So I'll just recap:

Currently dk.dbi says:
MM1993-07d I TL 1808-B 26 3 DD Tryllekunster [printed title is "I dobbelt ild"]

Instead it should say:
MM1993-07d I TL 1808-B 26 3 DD I dobbelt ild [correct title is "Tryllekunster"]

If the heroes were also switched in the print (don't remember, won't check) the correct entry would go:

MM1993-07d I TL 1808-B 26 3 MM!I dobbelt ild [hero is DD] [correct title is "Tryllekunster"]

Is this acceptable to all, so TPL can go make the change?

According to recent scan of WDC 15, INDUCKS is missing IFC "Pluto the Pup: A Foxy Fox Was He" (1p) ZS 39-12-10. (It also appeared five months later in WDC 20, but under another title, but it's a popuar story, redrawn xreffed twice.)
Also IBC "Pluto the Pup: Pluto's Fed Up With It" (1p) ZS 39-02-26 is missing. As there appears NO known USA publication of the story, but several reprints, it would make sense that it must have been published somewhere.
The scanned copy of WDC 15 however seem to have been supplemented with images from other sources (the tape repairs and tears don't match), so there is a slim chance that there has been a mix-up. I doubt it though.
― spe Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 8:14:51 AM
It says that KCr has indexed the issue. Maybe he can confirm the contents.
― orn Friday, December 1, 2006 at 10:09:49 AM
I now found out that the story is NOT in WDC 20. The story referred to as "Pluto Gets A Tangle" is properly, and predictably, named "Pluto Gets In A Tangle", and is in fact the gag http://coa.inducks.or...S+40-09-01

Those early WDC issues seem to have a lot of errors. Maybe it's time to go over them again with the scans and index them page by page.
― kcr Friday, December 1, 2006 at 1:55:03 PM
My copy of WDC 15 has no cover, so I can't help you.

― spe Sunday, November 5, 2006 at 6:15:08 AM
Cache emptied and cookies removed. The image HTML tags are still there, but the images aren't found. This can't be correct since I suppose that they still are fully valid covers for co/DAG 12 and other items, which have different story codes. The images have also ended up as broken at http://coa.inducks.or...o/DAG++12.
― Cacou Sunday, June 24, 2007 at 4:35:35 AM
Can't find anything, but the thumbnails have now all be replaced by us/ZZ entries. So we may have lost where the bug is.
