Vishandel Fluks
In 1998, the American artist Don Rosa made a story that played in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) of
the 19th century. Rosa needed some Dutch text for his story, which I gladly provided. He also had
some space (at the bottom of page 4) to put the text "Vishandel Fluks" (Fishmonger Fluks)...(*)
The story ("The Cowboy Captain of the Cutty Sark") has been published as an extra bonus to
Weekly 1999-27.
For some reason, I now collect all versions of this story that are published in the world.
I have for instance Italian, Finnish, and even Estonian reprints. In all cases the "Vishandel"
is clearly visible. Except in Greece: there they retouched the text...
Pictures: the original, Dutch, Danish, and Swedish versions (the text becomes a bit unclear due to the colouring).
(*) Only now that I'm writing this, I realise that the 19th-century spelling ("Vischhandel Fluks")
should have been used!
Donald Duck goes shopping
In 1999, the daughter of my parents' neighbours, Astrid Vegt (age 8) found out that I am a big Disney comics fan.
Especially for me, she drew a Donald Duck story: "Donald Duck goes Shopping".
The story is in a miniature booklet, enclosed in an envelope.
